22 APRIL // UNEP EARTH DAY
This is a huge worldwide event organised by UNEP, to educate, celebrate and try to change peoples attitudes and actions to really make a difference. Its all about you – the people that matter – organising and running your own events locally to raise awareness. So pick a topic that grabs you and get going! Read More

22 MAY // International Day for Biological Diversity.
This year it was concentrated on Biodiversity and Climate Change, however keep one eye on the link below to check out 2008s theme. There will be lectures, seminars, film presentations, cultural events, exhibitions and school outreach programs – something for everyone. Read more.

5 JUNE // UNEP: World Environment Day

9 OCT // ZSL: From Despotism to Democracy
ZSL are holding a scientific meeting on 9th October 2007, covering the theme ‘From Despotism to Democracy – Leadership and Co-ordination in Animal Groups”. It is being held at the Zoological Society offices London, and there is a dinner social afterwards all are able to attend.

10 OCT // The Zoological Society of London: Tropical Deforestation.
Speakers will present on topics of ‘Deforestation in the Brazilion Amazon’ and ‘Global Patterns of Deforestation’.

13 OCT – 15 DEC : FRONTIER Open Days
Frontier run open days to allow you to find out all about Frontier, their projects, to meet some Frontier staff, and to ask any questions you might have. These presentations are held twice a month in the office in Old Street, and is an excellent opportunity to learn everything you wanted to know and to see some spectacular photos of previous and ongoing projects. 1-2 NOV // ZSL LONDON ZOO, Trade-offs in Conservation: Symposium
Hosted by ZSL this forthcoming all day workshop (9am-5pm) is open to all. The discussion will discuss; trade offs in conservation, when looking at disrupted ecosystems; what to save, what not to save and how to go about it. Read More

13 NOV // ZSL: Scientific Meeting – Saving Gorillas
ZSL are hosting a scientific meeting about the threats and finding conservation solutions for Gorillas, on 13th November from 6pm-7.45pm. This is open to all members of the public, and there is a social dinner afterwards (which much be booked in advance). Read More

5 DEC // Thinking and Acting Sustainabley Workshop
Held by PP4SD and The Institute of Environmental Sciences this one-day workshop aimed at giving young professionals practical activities and dialogue on sustainability to enable you to learn how to best integrate sustainable development principles into your professional practice. 6-7 DEC // ASAB (The Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour)
The Winter ’07 meeting, being held in the Zoological Society’s offices London on 6th-7th December. The theme is Sex Differences, and any abstracts should be submitted by Oct 12th.

17-18 DEC : The Primate Society of Great Britain Meeting

The Easter ’08 meeting, being held at the University of Edinburgh. This includes a Postgraduate workshop. Read more

8 APRIL // ZSL – Palm Oil and Conservation (Open Discussion) 1800h-19.45h

23RD MAY (London) // Thinking and Acting Sustainably: Profile of a 21st Century Professional. A one day workshop for professionals from PP4SD & the Institution of Environmental Sciences. This one-day workshop will bring together professionals from different areas to engage in practical activities and dialogue on sustainability and sustainable development. It is intended to explore ideas on how best to integrate sustainable development principles into professional practice. For more information visit the PP4SD.

3 JULY // UFAW: WELFARE CONFERENCE
UFAW is hosting an animal Welfare conference in Birmingham Council House, 3rd July 2008 to cover recent advances in Animal Welfare Science. UFAW is hoping this will become a regular event as part of its on-going commitment to improving the way we understand and care for animals. It will be a broad mix of scientists, veterinarians and others concerned to share knowledge and practice, and to discuss advances and exchange views. If you are interested in presenting a paper at the conference, please submit your abstract by 25th January 2008. More
